PWC-Riyadh Hosts Online Poetry Recitation Session

PWC / PWC-LC Participants and Poets during Online Poetry Recitation Session

Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh (PWC) and its Ladies Chapter marked the 74th Independence Day of Pakistan by hosting its traditional Annual Independence Day Mushaira (Poetry Recitation Session) but this time it was On-Line that is, a Virtual gathering.

This On-Line session was joined by poets from all over — who enthralled the viewers with recitation of their poetry lines and ode covering nearly all genre of Urdu poetry.

Excellency Manzoor-ul-Haq — the former Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia — graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The poets who joined included the following: Qaiser Wajdi as the Sadr-e-Mushaira — that is, the Head Poet-in-Chair. Suhail Saqib, Shabbir Nazish and Farheen Chaudhary as the Guest-of-Honor.

Poet Yousuf Ali Yousuf conducted the Mushaira session and was later joined in poetry recitation by the following poets:

Zubair Bhatti, Dr. Farah Nadia, Waseem Mumtaz, Hisham Syed, Mansoor Mehboob, Shahid Khayalwi, Shagufta Shafeeq, Riaz Shahid, Dr. Lubna Aks, Suleman Jazib, Shabbir Nazish, Farheen Chaudhry, Sohail Saqib and Qaiser Wajdi.

The event was also live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook which was joined by the On-Line audience from the World over — who enjoyed themselves while watching & listening to the variety of poems.

The event kicked-off with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Kaleem Iqbal and a melodious Naat from Tanveer Mian.

PWC-LC PRO Qundeel Aymen was the Co-Host of this program.

Qundeel raised the curtain of this event and mentioned that PWC was hosting its traditional Annual Independence Day Mushaira to mark the Pakistani Independence Day — 14 August. She informed that various poets had joined from Canada, UAE, Bahrain, and Pakistan besides local poets from Riyadh, Khobar and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Qundeel Aymen then invited PWC Patron-in-Chief Faiz Al-Najdi, who briefed the audience about the purpose of this get-together and shared a brief history of PWC and Ladies Chapter.

PWC General Secretary Poet Yousuf Ali Yousuf was then invited to conduct the proceedings of the Mushaira as its host.

Poet Yousuf Ali Yousuf presented a brief introduction of all the participating poets.

He opened the Mushaira session by presenting his own couplet:

[Shaid Aik Wasal Ke Imkan Mein Rakha Hua Hai;

Aur Dil Ne Mudat Se Tujhe Dehaan Mein Rakha Hua Hai]

Qaiser Wajdi, Sadr-e-Mushaira appreciated PWC for arranging to host this On-Line Mushaira. He then presented his choice poetry lines and won applause from the listeners.

His Excellency, Manzoor-ul-Haq appreciated the poets and the leadership & the members PWC and its Ladies chapter for hosting such a historic maiden On-Line Mushaira. “It is really a memorable day to celebrate Independence Day on PWC platform, “Ambassador Haq added.

Engr. Abdul Rauf Mughal — the incumbent President of PWC — expressed his gratitude towards Excellency Manzoor-ul-Haq for gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. He also thanked all the poets for the rendition of their beautiful poetry lines. Mughal also extended his thanks to the senior journalists for joining the celebration. Finally, he thanked all members of PWC and its Ladies Chapter for working so hard to make this event a great success.

The event concluded on a happy note.
